The first tip I have for you is to leverage videos. You’re watching this video, you’re engaging with me. Video is the new form of marketing. Very few people are doing it, but if you do, you’ll get super great results fast. I know that may sound ridiculous, but it’s true. SEO can take a year before you get results. A YouTube SEO, though, you can get results in less than a week. They like ranking videos right away. If your video does well in the first 24 hours, you’ll notice that you’ll start ranking for all these terms really fast. Now, I have a question for you. How many of you guys have leveraged video before? If you have, leave a comment with yes, if you haven’t, leave a comment with no. This is one of the best tactics that you can leverage if you wanna do well in the long run. With your videos, make sure you upload ’em to each and every single social network separately, because Facebook doesn’t want you to embed a YouTube video by doing that, and LinkedIn doesn’t want you to just link out to your YouTube video. They want you to upload it all over again. By doing that, you’ll get more results. Also in your videos, make sure you have call to actions telling people to go to your company or business or to buy your products and services. There’s nothing wrong with self-promotion. That’s how you’re gonna get the most out of your video marketing.

The second tip I have for you is to create a funnel. There’s a lot of tools like SamCart and ClickFunnels where they’ll allow you to add upsells and downsells. This is very important because digital marketing keeps getting more expensive year over year. In 2008, during that big real estate recession, or the recession that was moreso caused by the banks than the real estate industry, at least in the United States, Google made more money from ads even during a crazy recession when, a lot of times, house prices were going down 30%, 40%, 50%. That shows you how effective digital marketing is. Costs are gonna keep rising, but adding upsells and downsells by creating that funnel using tools like ClickFunnels or SamCart, you’re gonna get more revenue per visitor, and that’ll allow you to spend more money on digital marketing.

The third tip is to guest post. When you write for these bigger sites, what you’ll find is they already have your audience. They already have the viewership. By you releasing content there you’re gonna increase your brand value, and you’ll start getting visitors to your site as well as conversions and sales.

The fourth tip I have for you is to take a omnichannel approach, from SEO, to pay-per-click marketing, to email marketing, to growth hacking. By leveraging ’em all, you’re gonna get the best results versus just leveraging one of ’em.

And last but not least, optimize for conversions. You can use tools like Crazy Egg to see where people click on your site and where they don’t. You can also use tools like Crazy Egg to run AV tests. You can also use tools like Hello Bar to collect emails. That way, when people come to your website, collect the email, you can then shoot ’em an email, get them to come back, and that way, over time, they’ll convert into a customer. You can use tools like subscribers.com to generate push notification subscribers. It makes it easy through their browser. One click, they’ll be able to subscribe to your site. Again, you can get ’em to come back and eventually convert.

How to Increase Content Engagement? Reinventing Content Marketing with Nick Mason #OnlineMarketing

How to increase content engagement? A London-based company has set its sights on revolutionising content engagement by creating a new platform built around improved user experience for readers.

Nick Mason, CEO and Founder of Turtl, took part in a ProfileTree video interview to explain that his tool doesn’t just make great content easier to read, but also easier to create and easier to measure too.

He began by outlining how Turtl had been developed with its foundations in the science of how people read.

“My own background is in science. I was always interested in science from a relatively young age.

“I did a maths and physics degree, and you come out from that with one or two options: you either go into finance or you can be a mad scientist. Neither of those particularly appealed to me.

“I was always interested in computers so I taught myself to programme, doing websites for people and making applications and doing stuff like that. I did that as a consultant for around six or seven years.

“People kept asking me to work on products for them, so I fell into doing that. I was doing a product for Oxford Medical Sciences and bumped into some really interesting people, particularly from the psychology and psychiatry departments, and they shared information about how we read, how we process information and how we understand what we are reading.”

When friends involved in content marketing sent Nick material in PDF format he realised psychology and his own research could be used to create a better solution.

“We have a proprietary format allowing you to read in a more immersive and natural way. By using that format in A/B trials we typically improved metrics by anything up to seven times in terms of share rate, average reading times and all kinds of things across the board.

“We allow anyone to create things in that format, you don’t need to be a designer or developer. You just go in and create. Some of our customers have upwards of 100 licences, and they aren’t technical or design people but they’re going in and creating great stuff.

“We also provide really detailed analytics showing where people are clicking, where they’re dropping off, where they’re spending time at an aggregate level and also on an individual level.”

This last benefit brings obvious benefits to a sales team, who can see if a potential customer was mostly interested in, say, price information or technical details.

But why does how the information is presented have such a major role in this end result?

“Marshall McLuhan had a famous pronouncement that ‘the medium is the message’, and what he means is that the way in which you transmit the message fundamentally affects the way in which that message is received.

“We want to move away from big, static blocks of text into something more engaging, more interactive and more visually appealing.”

The success of Turtl comes at a time when the continuing power of content marketing is understood by businesses who want to work smarter online.

“It’s a way to get closer to people without being so direct as, when it’s done well, you’re talking with someone rather than talking at them. Rather than just saying ‘this is what we do, this is our product, do you want to buy it or do you not’ you can get alongside them and show that they you understand the same things they understand, that you like the same things they like and you start to teach them things.

“You get into the position of being a trusted adviser as, if you’re writing about the stuff they’re interested in and giving them ideas and tips, it becomes a very natural thing for them to buy from you.

“That’s why I think it is so effective and business continue to spend more and more money on it.”

The first event that I have for you guys is Traffic & Conversion Summit. It’s based in San Diego, California. It’s an amazing event. They talk about cutting edge tactics with traffic and conversions. Now the reason I love this event compared to many events out there is there’s a lot of shady marketers out there. I’m not saying that you should copy these shady marketers and be unethical but here’s the cool thing, there’s more legitimate businesses at Traffic & Conversion Summit than shady marketers. But some of these shady marketers are leveraging cutting edge tactics. You take their tactics that are ethical and you apply them to your ethical business, you’ll do much better. And I learned that from a gentleman named Ryan Deiss who created that event. Now again, most people who come to this event are awesome amazing companies and talented marketers but it’s also great meet the people who are doing cutting edge stuff because then you can take their tactics and apply it to your legitimate business.

The second event I have for you guys is Affiliate Summit. Similar to Traffic & Conversion Summit, there’s a lot of cutting edge marketers who are doing really well. At Affiliate Summit these marketers only get paid every time they drive a sale or a conversion. They have to use their own money. That means if they don’t drive a conversion, they’re just out money. The lure of going there and learning from these marketers is a great way to find again the cutting edge techniques.

And similar to Affiliate Summit, the third event I have for you is Affiliate World. And they have different ones all over the world from ones in Asia to ones in Europe. It’s another great event where you’re learning from the affiliate marketers who are using their own money to drive sales for other people. And if they don’t drive the sale, they’ve just wasted all this money on ad dollars and they don’t get paid out a single penny. So by learning from these people, you’re gonna be much better off.

The fourth event I have for you is SMX Advanced. This is where they discuss advanced marketing techniques from SEO to social media marketing. It’s not a huge event but you’re gonna find more advanced marketers. It’s typically held in Seattle, Washington. It’s worth checking out if you want to learn the cutting edge techniques that a lot of large corporations are using and as well, what’s going to be the future. From the future of search to the future of social media. These guys bring in people from Google and Facebook and all of the social networks that’ll talk about the changes that they’re gonna make and what the future is gonna hold.

The fifth and last event I have for you guys is CXL. CXL is put on by ConversionXL which is a popular blog on conversion optimization. The reason I love CXL is Google ads keep getting more expensive over time, Facebook ads keep getting more expensive over time. The thing I love about CXL is they teach you how to get more revenue from each and every single one of your visitors, from conversion optimization to funnels to checkout bumps. They teach you all of those things at CXL. It’s an event that’s worth checking out.
